Description
Amiga Stylo (Stylosanthes hamata) is a Caribbean Stylo (similar to Verano). It is a robust tropical legume renowned for its persistence, high feed value, and ability to thrive in low-fertility, well-drained soils. Ideal for improving pasture quality and boosting livestock performance in tropical and sub-tropical grazing systems.
This deep-rooted perennial legume forms a strong, leafy stand that complements tropical grasses such as Buffel grass, enhancing overall pasture productivity and fixing valuable nitrogen into the soil. Note – does not tolerate waterlogging and best suited to lighter soil types.
Key Benefits:
- Excellent persistence under grazing
- High protein and digestibility for cattle and sheep
- Fixes nitrogen – improving soil fertility and grass growth
- Drought tolerant and suited to low–medium fertility soils
- Very compatible with Buffel and other tropical pastures
Recommended Use: Ideal for mixed grass–legume pastures, rotational grazing systems, and soil improvement in tropical and subtropical regions.
Sowing Rate: 4-6 kg/ha sole, 2-5 kg/ha in mixes
