This deep-rooted, perennial grass grows in tussocks, increasing in size with age. This drought-tolerant species grows vigorously from Autumn to Spring whilst becoming dormant in Summer. When grazed moderately, cocksfoot provides nutritious feed for sheep and cattle although it’s feed is considered less than ryegrass. It can also be used for hay or silage.
