Description
Pillar is an exciting new, fast establishing, high yielding multi-graze giant-type forage rape with strong re-growth potential. When well-managed, Pillar provides high quality, cost-effective forage for beef cattle and sheep. With its deep taproot and swede/turnip resemblance, it is a valuable break crop proving beneficial to soil structure. With its rapid establishment and ready for the first graze in 60-90 days, Pillar is a variety that will provide more feed from later grazings. Extremely important to note, however, is that Brassicas should always be introduced slowly to livestock and with the addition of added fibre in the form of hay, straw or baled silage to lessen the chance of rumen acidosis or bloat. With a crude protein level between 14-20%, the energy level of brassicas is equivalent to high-quality conserved forages.
