Description
Kikuyu is a versatile and widely used warm-season turf grass ideal for lawns, sporting fields, roadsides, nature strips, and public areas requiring a soft, drought-tolerant surface. With its vigorous rhizome and stolon growth, it recovers quickly from mowing, wear, or grazing, and its deep root system provides excellent drought resistance. Kikuyu thrives in full sun, responds well to nitrogen fertiliser, and can tolerate moderate salt levels, making it perfect for coastal parks and foreshore areas. Its light green colour, ability to handle low mowing, and medium traffic tolerance further enhance its appeal as a durable and resilient turf option.
