After a sensational start to his road racing career in Collie, Jake Fisher headed to the ever famous Wanneroo Raceway for round 3 of the WA Excel Cup.

Hoping to build on his strong result at Collie, he was keen to test his talent against the 26 car field that would compete on the day.

He would finish his qualifying run in 12th place, after missing the set up and was a little disappointed. But, to his credit and understanding the learning curve he is on, he placed in 11th after a 12th place start.

Race 2 saw a massive rollover with one of the cars, seeing the race being halted and then called off due to the accident. He remained in 11th place where he started.

Deciding to play with some set ups for the car in the final race of the day, worked in his favour and was a real step up for the young ace, as he pushed the car forward from 11th to 7th place in a strong showing.

The biggest plus for the day was his overall 7th placing on points for the day, another strong result in only his second race on the road.

Like all young men who are finding their way in motorsport, Fisher is always keen to learn and accepts when he could do better and this mantra he is carrying on his motorsport journey is proving to be a strong one.

He now resets and prepares for the next round on May 17th with a bit more at his disposal, he is keen to do more;

“I’m learning a lot,” he said. “There’s a heap to get your head around, that’s for sure but I’m picking up what I can and trying to put it out there on the track.”

With this attitude, he is looking for a continual tup ten result for his maiden season on the tarmac. And with only limited resources, his ability is fast showing the way for him in a very competitive circle.
