For Bunbury junior sedan ace, Jake Fisher, this weekend’s WA Junior Sedan title could not have coms soon enough.

After success at the national title in Grafton NSW back in January, he has been looking to the race as his last title tilt in his junior speedway career spanning his third season in the sport.

With the Speedway Australia ruling that once a driver turns 17 years of age they must make their way out of the class and onto other divisions, Fisher, with this in mind, is keen to make this one count as a last hurrah, so to speak, as he will not get another junior title opportunity.

Nearly 50 drivers are expected to descend on Newman’s Hillview Speedway for this weekends event and Fisher is no stranger to big blue ribbon events such as this.

His last WA championship saw him fight his way out of the B Main and starting from 17th, he made is way to a 7th place finish. His goal for the weekend is a top 5 placing which will be a personal best for himself.

The competition will not be easy, but he knows that he has a chance just like every other driver there this weekend.

Having raced at many tracks over the last three seasons, a new circuit doesn’t phase the 16 year old who is now using his race craft to his best possible advantage and his confidence is high.

After success on the local scene at JSRA level and also the South West Series, this has now placed him into the top ten drivers who can win this weekend’s event should it all go to plan.

As most would know, it often never does, but Fisher has gathered so much in such a short time in speedway racing and knows how to use it to gain the best opportunity for himself to achieve his goal.

A top 5, a podium…a win?

Whatever the result after this weekend, the name Jake Fisher will be etched into the minds of many as his career has brought many highlights to so many and it’s the same fan base that knows he is destined to achieve in his own right.

So, for the last time on a title level, it’s time to race. For Jake Fisher, it’s just another weekend in the race car and another race to try and win.
