With a wet rainy day forecast for this Saturday’s next round of the WA Excel Cup at Wanneroo Raceway, Bunbury ace, Jake Fisher isn’t bothered by the challenge being thrown down to him.

Another chance to grow and learn in his journey into black track racing he sees as a great opportunity to gain more experience.

To set the tone of Saturday’s round of three races, he is sneaking up early on the day before on Friday to get some laps in, hopefully in the same wet conditions.

For Fisher, only in his infancy, he has a clear goal for 2025, which is fast becoming a reality for him, which is to finish the overall championship in the top ten. He is doing this currently but what is even more appealing is that the Rookie Championship title is also in reach.

He currently sits in third place and intends to push a little harder to attain a strong position for 2025.

Asking what he plans for 2026, he was upbeat in his reply, stating he needs more experience on other tracks, other than just the WA circuits.

“ I’ve just bought a race simulator and it has been configured for Excel racing, which is really cool,” he said. “I will start some sim hours on tracks from around the country soon.”

To develop in this arena, he also is of the understanding that more tracks and more seat time is vitally important in his growth.

“I have to invest time into this, I owe it to myself and the people that are supporting me,” he stated. “We’re talking with some Excel Teams in the east for next year, which would be a great addition to my racing program, so we’ll see where we land with that by the end of the year.”

As he powers through the learning phase, his goals and aspirations are now starting to paint a clearer picture of where he wants to be in the game.

Come Saturday, that aspiration will no doubt take another step forward.
