With the sun shining and no rain in sight, it made for a great racing round at Wanneroo Raceway for the ongoing Retravision WA Excel Cup Championship.

With young Jake Fisher keen to attain his championship standing, he was about to set his highest qualifying position for the season so far coming home in P6. While he was happy with his achievement, this placed him in a 6th place start in race 1 and on the green flag, he pushed into 5th place and held his spot. With four laps down, the young gun, pushed hard and was at the back of the top four cars before a safety car was called due to an on track incident.

The position stood and this would give him a 5th place start in race 2. An inside run on the start saw him in the box seat to attack the front runners for the first time this season and he did this with
vigour until an incident brought out the safety car once again. With the race position declared he was awarded a 4th place finish, due to the car in front having a 5 second race penalty.

On the final race of the day, his 5th place start would solidify crucial championship points in both the Rookie and overall championships. As the race began he found himself under pressure from
behind.

An incident sending two cars from the 21 car field off the track, would see the safety car back on the track. Some diligent work from the recovery team, would see a one lap dash to the finish line and
this is where Fisher shone. Another incident up in turn four saw two cars slide sideways in front of him and he managed to push past both of them.

Harry Burns passed him in the chaos but Fisher had the inside line down the hill and it was a drag race to the finish line with Burns snipping him by less than half a car length. On points, Fisher was
awarded a third place for the day, an achievement in his own right.

Testament that this young talent is fast finding his feet in the sport and it has brought the Rookie Championship fight down to the next round at Collie Motorplex where it will be decided. Thanks to
his outstanding performance over the weekend, this has placed him in 2nd place, a title that he is keen to get his hands on for 2025.

No matter the result, Fisher has proved to himself he has what it takes to match it with the best in this highly competitive division and he is firing up for his next big challenge ahead.
