In another strong performance, Bunbury based driver, Jake Fisher has shown he is the real deal in WA circuit racing.
Another solid showing at Wanneroo Raceway over the weekend has proven that his continued upward trend in the WA Excel Cup is no accident but one of continuous learning and great driving skill.
Finishing overall in 8th position for the weekend has given the youngster some real understanding of not just his own ability behind the wheel, but how other factors relate to his racing prowess.
The second race on Sunday was probably his best all year so far. Starting from 8th position on the grid he had managed to push all the way to 5th place before his tyres were not giving as much and he eventually come home in 7th place.
It has given him yet more confidence to try new things while finding his way at such a rapid pace in 2025;
“It’s a steep learning curve for me but I’m really starting to understand what the car does and how it responds when I try something different,” he said. “I’m happy with where I’m at, but always think I can get better.”
With this forward thinking attitude, he will only improve as the championship rolls on and he is liking the switch from the dirt track speedway, although it’s not all lost on him.
“I still love my speedway roots where I started my career,” he smiles. “I am building a street stock for the coming season, so I can keep my eye in there over the summer break from circuit racing, just to have some fun.”
He is adamant that circuit racing will be his passion and his top ten in the overall championship, alongside the outright Rookie Title is his to aim for.
The next round at Wanneroo is set for the taking and he is keen for what lies ahead for him moving forward in 2025.
