Description
Phantom Ryegrass – annual early-mid tetraploid is an early to mid-flowering plant selected for maximum dry matter production during winter and spring. Due to its high level of digestibility and palatability based on it’s higher sugar and moisture content, it is ideally suited to hay and silage production. Phantom is an excellent choice for direct seeding new pastures or to help rejuvenate older more established pastures. It’s proven to be a perfect substitute for your more traditional winter forage crops such as oats.
Agronomic Information:
- Mid- High rainfall and irrigation (500m+)
- Good resistance to rust and other pasture diseases
- Sowing rates 25-30kg/ha
- Suitable for over-sowing
- Performs best in a well-drained loam soil however, is a well-adapted product with the ability to perform in a range of soil profiles and fertility levels. Phantom tolerates “wet feet” typical of heavy clay soils.
